Sanitation Procedure

After 4-5 refills you will want to sanitize your bottle completely. You can return it to Miiko Skin Co or do it yourself. We do recommend you purchase a new lid for your bottle after 4-5 refills for extra precaution.

  1. Rinse your bottle with hot water

  2. Place it in your dishwasher.

  3. After the dishwashing cycle is complete. Remove the label if it is peeling.

  4. Sanitize the bottle by spraying it down with sanitizer inside and out.

  5. Run it through dishwasher again,

  6. Inspect the bottle for oil residue.

  7. If there is residue. Use a bottle brush and vinegar to wipe clean.

  8. Repeat steps 4-5.

  9. Inspect the bottle for water residue.

  10. Place in the oven at low temp to evaporate any leftover water residue in the bottle.

  11. Store in an airtight container.

Removing the label glue residue

  1. Stop at step 7 above.

  2. Remove as much label as possible

  3. Wipe the outside of the bottle with a tsp of light oil like sunflower oil.

  4. Put the bottle in your oven at 170C for 10 minutes.

  5. Use clothes to protect your hands and wipe the oil and glue off the bottle. Careful it will be hot!

  6. Now return to the above procedure starting at step 8.

Proper sanitization and label removal are some of our most asked questions when it comes to zero waste living, so we hope this blog has helped educate you! It's not a quick process, but at Miiko Skin Co we believe that the reduced impact on the environment is worth it!
